SCVNGR’s Dungeons & Dragons inspired game was a hit at PAX East last weekend!
“Monk’s Mobile Quest”, a Dungeons & Dragons Online inspired scvngr commenced on Friday March 26, 2010. The game transformed players into the DDO character, Monk, who was preparing for an epic battle. Throughout the game, Monk had to make 6 stops at different locations on the PAX East floor. Each stop represented a lesson Monk had to master before the battle. The lesson came in the form of a mobile challenge: gain Ki (a powerful concentration energy) by focusing on the notes in Rock Band at the Harmonix booth, do some recon on your battle opponent by snapping a picture with the Wizards of the Coast life-size DD beast. All of these training stages culminated in the final challenge at the Turbine booth where the players engaged in battle!
For players and exhibitors, Monk’s Mobile Quest provided a unique and rewarding experience. Even if conference attendees weren’t into Dungeons & Dragons (unlikely, we know), they were totally into the awesome prizes: 2 Nexus One phones & coveted Turbine points!
Be on the lookout for some upcoming coverage from the Boston Globe, who followed our awesome game designers for the day at PAX East!
