On Monday, Aug 16, SCVNGR headed south for an exciting night of indoor kart racing at F1 Boston. The team left it all on the track, battling for hours for the chance to taste sweet victory. Personalities were magnified, egos and bodies were bruised, and legends were born.
After 13 qualifying heats, the top 10 overall finishers faced off in a brutal 15-lap showdown. Drivers showed no mercy. Crowd favorite Michael Cappelletti was ushered into the penalty box early in the race, his dreams dashed by one cruel wave of the course marshal’s paddle.
SCVNGR Evangelist Cort Johnson cruised to victory in the final, wowing spectators with his confidence, control and supple Venetian driving loafers. Johnson attributed his success to patience and, more importantly, his complete disregard for marshals’ safety warnings.
For Johnson, yellow flags and flashing lights meant only one thing– “Speed up, baby.”
Check out the video below for footage of both Johnson’s victory lap and a head-on collision involving a wall and one unfortunate SCVNGR employee who missed the crucial pre-race safety lecture (:12 in the second clip.)

A huge thanks to Shell Riehl and F1 Boston for putting together an event that the team will never forget!
