SCVNGR Checks-In…from 4,080 ft.

There’s no better time than summer to enjoy the great New England outdoors. Last Sunday, the SCVNGR Team trekked to Franconia Notch in New Hampshire for a day of fresh air. To our dismay, social check-in and challenge completion efforts were thwarted by the lack of cell service.

Phones packed away, we and our friends from TEDx set off on our “fun, moderate hike” through the wilderness.  SCVNGR “Chief Ninja” and extreme hiking enthusiast Seth Priebatsch led the troops. As he charged ahead, leaping rocks with ease, we quickly learned that “moderate” is a relative term.

Fortunately, our persistent hunger for challenges was satisfied by the physical obstacles that the Cannon Mountain trail presented; excessively muddy paths, low-hanging branches and death-defying vertical rock climbs could only be conquered with the willpower of our ragtag team of trailblazers.

In the end, we all survived and earned our reward…

We also learned a valuable lesson: cropped “jorts” are not appropriate hiking attire.
